Necessity is the mother of invention means that need gives birth to invention. When one person needs something, another person will create it.

1) When the mother asked her son, "Elias, can you help me with my sewing?" He said that when he was older that he would fulfill his mother's fondest wishes. And when he grow up he invented the sewing machine.

2) Another example, is when Little Tomas Alva Edison said, "I'll grow up to be a great inventor and I'll make a lamp to help my mommy see." And when he grew up he invented electricity.

3) The last example is, when Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone so that his mother could phone her friends instead of sending him on a horse.
