Leaders Among Us!!

I think that a good leader should be someone who:
  • takes control
  • listens to other people's suggestions
  • organized
  • responsible
  • has fun but knows the limit
  • is not selfish
  • knows that the decision he/she makes affects the people who work for them.
Aysha is a great leader in the school, she fits all of my characteristics. I am proud of her!!!
She takes control when their is no leader and always lets people give their input. Aysha has fun but when its time to be serious, she gets down and dirty!

Case Studies in Imperialism

Motivations:
Resources, land and the power of who go's through the Sues Canal was some of the gold. The glory was land and power. There were no gods because religion was not an issue in this situation.

Methods:
The methods that the British used was to use the Sues Canal as a way of taking over Egypt and other countries. Another method was states frighting and war. A British company signed an agreement with the Persian rulers to develop oil fields.

Changes:
The Persians rebelled against their ruler - who was corrupt- and the growing influence of the Europeans. In Persia, Russians and the British competed for control of local power. Britain controlled Egypt after they had money troubles and could not complete the Sues Canal.

Reflection for Goals!!

My goal for quarter 1 was to read more and to read higher level books. During the quarter, I managed to achieve the goal of reading more and by the end of the quarter I was reading a book my mum and dad recommended to me. It's called Master of the Game and If Tomorrow Comes both by Sidney Sheldon. They are mystery books and have great adventures in them. Time flies when I read these books, so they must be great books to read.

My new goals for quarter 2 are:
1) To get a B in humanities.
2) To get all my TMTU's in one lesson.
3) To do my homework the night it was given.

Political Cartoon

Main Visual Elements are a fat man with a capitalism banner, a little man and money falling out of the little man's pockets. Capitalism steals money from the working people. The cartoonists opinion is when the government uses capitalism they are taking money away from the laborers. The way the fat man is shaking the money out of the little man shows how the author feels. Putting a grim smile on the fat mans face might have been more persuasive.

Mr. Coyle’s Investment Tips

Buy Low, Sell High:

The main meaning of the quote: Buy low, sell high, is to buy shares or shocks when they are at a cheap prize and as soon as the market increases sell you shares at the highest price possible. Spend a little and sell a lot!!

Industrial Revolution

What is the “net effect” of the Industrial Revolution?

Pros:
1) The revolution in textiles such as the spinning jenny, the water mule and the sewing machines resulted in faster production, better trade, slave plantation and fashion started.
2) It changed the way people lived, instead of there being lords and kings, we now have proper governments and presidents.
3) We would not have entertainment and machinery, people would have very little education.
4) The transportation now is cars and bikes, before the industrial revolution we would be riding horses and wagons.

Cons:
1) Pollution has increased rapidly over the past century.
2) Assembly lines and sweatshops are still being used till today.
3)The revolution in coal, mines and scheduled work resulted in the making of more machines, more pollution, it did bring in more money but caused women and children to work long hours.
4)In factories, the quality of production grew less because the items were being made from machines and not home made.
