Can You Trust Julius Lester???

To me it doesn't really matter. Because even if he made up all the stories he would have still made his point about slaves. It's not like you can go ask these slaves, "Did Julius Lester really interview you???". Not only are they dead but they wouldn't even know what your talking about...! But to everyone in the class i think this book touched them deeply and it was like we felt the slaves pain not only because they were beaten up but people thought that just because they werent christen they were less human.

Nikaya, I'm impressed by your enthusiasm on the topic. You really believe in what you said and it comes off in the article. I was reminded that the story of the slaves is what really matters. But you should consider that if Julius Lester did make these interviews up, we would have no reason for reading the book or learning from it. I wonder why Lester did not make it more apparent that he is a reliable source. Awesome post!
